Privacy Policy

The Auntie Project, a sole proprietorship licensed in Bangladesh (trade licence 26591843319000436) and trading as Aunty, of Mojidpur Doyahata, Ward 1, Post Office: Mojidpur Doyahata-1541, Sreenagar, Munshiganj, Dhaka Division, Bangladesh. Every request described below — a copy of your data, a correction, a deletion — reaches us at support@hiaunty.com, and is answered by a person.

• What you tell Aunty: your name and the name your family calls you, date of birth, gender, where you grew up and where you live, your school and medium, college and university, work, faith and how much it shapes your day, family background, marital status, and the answers to Aunty's eight questions.
• Your photographs, and — if you choose face verification — the result of that check. The frames captured during verification are used for the check and are not stored.
• How you use the service: matches shown, likes and passes, conversations, notes, gifts and points.
• Technical information needed to run an app: device type, app version, push notification token, and error reports.

• Matching. Almost everything above exists to answer one question: who is worth introducing you to.
• Writing your public profile. Aunty turns your answers into a headline and an introduction. Your raw answers are never shown to another member.
• Safety and moderation — reviewing reports, removing accounts that break the rules.
• Payments, receipts and support.
• Telling you things you asked to be told: a new match, a message, a reply.

Payments are handled by SSLCommerz, a payment gateway licensed by Bangladesh Bank. When you pay, you are taken to SSLCommerz's own secure page over an encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connection and you enter your card or mobile-banking details there.

• We never see, handle or store your card number, CVV, PIN or banking password. They do not pass through our servers and they are not in our database.
• What we receive back is the outcome of the transaction, an amount, and a gateway reference — enough to give you what you bought and to answer a question about it later.
• Card data handling and PCI-DSS compliance are SSLCommerz's, under their own security programme.
• Refunds, where due under our Refund Policy, are returned through the same channel the payment came from.

The website uses cookies and equivalent browser storage. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell data to data brokers.

• Strictly necessary — keeping you signed in, keeping your session secure, and remembering your language. The site does not work without these.
• Preferences — small things the site remembers for your convenience, such as a tab you last opened. Stored in your browser only.
• Payment — SSLCommerz sets its own cookies on its own pages while a transaction is in progress, under their policy.
• Diagnostics — anonymous error reports that tell us something broke. No profile content is attached.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary ones will sign you out and prevent payment.

Free accounts see advertisements. Where Aunty serves an advert from its own advertisers, the request carries coarse signals only — a district, an age band, gender, and broad profile facts such as faith or education medium — so that a campaign reaches people it is meant for. It carries no name, no photograph, no account identifier and no contact details, and an advertiser cannot connect an advert to a person. Some slots are filled by Google AdMob under Google's own policy. Paid plans remove advertising.

• Other members see only the profile Aunty writes, your photographs and what you choose to say in a conversation.
• A guardian you invite sees your profile and your matches, and cannot act on your behalf.
• Service providers who run parts of the service for us: hosting and database (Supabase), payments (SSLCommerz), push notifications, and the AI provider that helps write profiles and score matches. They act on our instructions.
• Nobody else, unless we are required to disclose by law or to protect somebody's safety.

While your account is open, and for as long afterwards as we are required to keep records — payment references for accounting, and moderation reports for safety. Deleting your account removes your profile from matching immediately and deletes your answers and photographs.

• Read and edit what you told Aunty, at any time, from your profile.
• Turn off any category of notification in Settings.
• Delete your account in Settings.
• Ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or erase it, by writing to support@hiaunty.com.

Aunty is for adults. We do not knowingly keep information about anybody under 18; if we find such an account we remove it.
